What are the requirements for Newswyre?

Newswyre works in your Internet Web browser, so you do not need to install any software to use it.  With Newswyre, you don't have to manage any technology, just your content.  Best of all, you can expect to pay about 40% of what it would cost to manage a server infrastructure.  Of course, if you must host Newswyre onsite, you can license it for installation. 

How will Newswyre help keep my online news easily organized?

Newswyre is initially setup and organized based on your paper. It is broken down into sections and categories of content. When you want to publish content, you tell it where it is supposed to be. Editors have a quick snapshot of all pending articles and can edit them on the fly or approve them for publishing at the appropriate date. Editors can see what articles are pending their review from authors and edit them on the fly.

Do I need any programming skills to publish content to the Web?

No, knowledge of programming and/or HTML is not necessary to publish your newspaper online.  To customize your Web site, you can use the built-in editor.  However, if you wish to completely customize the template/look of your Web site, we can work with you to do so, or through your own HTML/CSS knowledge.  Newswyre creates the solution that fits your needs.

How hard is Newswyre to use?  Will staff require training?

Newswyre was designed specifically for publishing in a newspaper environment and fits easily into any non-profit or community based environment.  Of course, phone, email and in-person support is available to answer any of your questions. It usually takes only 1-2 hours to train an entire staff to use Newswyre.

Does the staff have to be in the newspaper office to publish and work on the paper?

No.  Newswyre works over the Internet, so your staff can work from anywhere in the world equipped with an Internet connection.  Adding content to Newswyre is as easy as copying and pasting stories into your Web browser.  Because every staff member gets his or her own login to the site, the burden to sort through and organize tons of stories is lifted off the Editors.

What about permissions?  How do you control who has access to what?

There are several levels of permissions available for staff. From authors to editors, advertising staff, and weblog authors. You control who gets access to what part of your paper.

How long will it take to get my newspaper online?

After contacting our sales team, we could have you online in a matter of 6 weeks.  Depending on your level of customization, it could take longer to fully fit Newswyre to suit your needs.

What kind of customization is possible?

The entire look and feel of your Web site can be changed. Newswyre is not a cookie-cutter system. Your site should match your identity. You can keep your current design, design something new or you can have us design a new concept for you, exactly how you want it.

If we decide to go with Newswyre, where would the newspaper be hosted?

Softwyre hosts your newspaper in our secure, redundant datacenters.  We backup your Web site daily and ensure its operation. Our servers have backup battery and generator power if the power goes out. We have multiple connections to the Internet, so that if one line gets cut, the others take over. You can host a Newswyre Web site on your own server if you desire.

Can my newspaper have its own domain name?

Absolutely. If you have one already, we can continue to host it for you.  If not, we will register a domain name for you. Newswyre solutions will manage every aspect of your newspaper technology.

Can my newspaper have its own email?

Yes. We can host as many email addresses as you need and make sure they are spam filtered.
